We thank you so much for partnering with us as we reach out to the Asian world. We have seen God do miracles through your labor with us. We have some good praise reports and prayer needs to share with you.
Dreams and Seeds
Last year as we were preparing to leave the USA and move to Singapore, I had "one of those" dreams. The kind that when you wake up, you know it wasn't normal, or from pizza. In the dream, I was in a field with a large basket full of seeds. I was throwing handfuls of seed into the field everywhere I walked. It was nighttime, so that no one could see what I was doing.
I believe this is our purpose while here in Singapore. We are meeting lots of people. Some of them we get to talk to, but many, just a smile or kind word. Either way, they won't forget us. Even Emma gets into the action. She smiles and waves to everyone she sees. Sometimes she stares, waving her arms at people until they notice her, then she blows a kiss and says bye-bye. Planting seeds of Faith, Hope and Love everywhere we go.
Home group – We started a Bible study in our house a couple of months ago. There is one couple from Germany and one American couple that have been coming so far. We continue to invite the people that we meet. Please pray that God will send the people who are ready to follow Him.
Seeded Basketball – Every Monday I play basketball with a group of Chinese guys. This past week they were laughing hysterically as I bumbled through some phrases in Mandarin. When I finally got the phrases right they cheered for me. This is the first part of cross culture relationship. As they laughed with me, I remembered the first joke I told “in Spanish” that was funny and made sense in Spanish. I knew then this was the point when I had entered their world.
School class – This summer I worked with about 30 junior high kids who have “social problems”. The majority of them come from difficult family situations, which reflects on their relation to the other kids and teachers. The students have responded well to the whole group, especially to me as a foreigner.
Many of them have kept in contact with me since this class.
Pray God will open more doors like this.
